Beschreibung:

Die Vorlesung umfasst die Grundlagen der allgemeinen Chemie (Atombau, Periodensystem, chemische Bindung, chemische Thermodynamik und Reaktionskinetik) sowie spezielle Aspekte der Chemie, die für ingenieurtechnische Anwendungen besonders relevant sind (Struktur- und Funktionsmaterialien).

Lernziele:

Die Teilnehmer sollen ein Grundlagenwissen im Bereich der Chemie erwerben, das sie befähigt, den atomaren und molekularen Aufbau von Materie zu verstehen. Sie sollen darüber hinaus einfache chemische Reaktionen sowie deren energetische Begleitumstände nachvollziehen können. Schließlich wird erwartet, dass die Teilnehmer Zusammenhänge zwischen einer atomaren bzw. molekularen Struktur und den daraus resultierenden makroskopischen Eigenschaften verstehen.

Description:

The lecture deals with the fundamentals of general chemistry (atomic models, periodic table, chemical bonds, chemical thermodynamics and kinetics) as well as with some aspects of the field of chemistry which are of special relevance for engineering applications (structural and functional materials).

Learning Targets:

Participants of the lecture are supposed to gain basic knowledge on chemistry in so far that they are able to understand the atomic or molecular structure of matter of different kinds. In addition, they should be able to interpret simple chemical reactions together with their energetic characteristics. Finally, they should be able to understand the correlation between the microscopic structure of matter and its macroscopic properties.
