Die Wahlveranstaltung "Antennen" wird in englischer Sprache angeboten als "Antennas for Communications" gemeinsam für Studierende der Studiengänge EIT und ISE.
Die Veranstaltung führt ein in die theoretischen Grundlagen von Antennen für Hochfrequenz- und Mikrowellen-Systeme: Insbesondere wird nach Einführung von Grundbegriffen der Antennentechnik die Abstrahlung von elementaren Strahlern feldtheoretisch abgeleitet, die Gruppencharakteristiken von linearen und planaren Elementgruppen abgeleitet und als Anwendung praktische Antennen diskutiert.

Lernziele:

Die Studierenden sind in der Lage die Grundkonzepte der Antennentechnik auf praktische Fragestellungen der Systemtechnik anzuwenden, insbesondere geeignete Antennenformen vorzuschlagen, deren Eigenschaften zu umreißen und näherungsweise quantitativ zu bestimmen.

Description:

The elective course in "Antennas for Communications" is held for students both of ISE and the EIT programs. The lecture and exercises introduce the theoretical fundamentals of of antennas for Radio Frequency and Microwave systems: In particular, after the introduction of basic antenna related terms, the radiation from elementary radiators is studied using electro-magnetic field theory. The theoretical characteristics of array antennas is studied and applications to practical antenna designs are explained and analyzed.

Learning Targets:

The students are able to apply fundamental antenna concepts to practical problems of RF- and Microwave systems. In particular, students are able to propose suitable antenna types, describe the properties of chosen antenna types and give approximate quantitative performance characteristics.
