Summer School 2014

Outlook

Water and Human Health in Urban Systems – Toxicology and epidemiology, microbiology and risk assessment

The 3rd summer school is dedicated to the quality of water in metropolitan areas with respect to chemical and microbiological contaminants. Numerous studies have shown that a multitude of micro pollutants, some of them with toxic, carcinogenic, endocrine or resistancepromoting effects is present in urban aquatic systems and that pathogens are often hard to detect, e.g. in VBNC state, and thus their prevalence might be underestimated.
