Instrument
This is a standard ELMITEC LEEM III which has as extra equipment an UHV sample prep chamber for ion sputtering and annealing, a chamber with a CMA (cylindrical mass analyzer) for Auger spectroscopy, and a
magnetically levitated, vibration free, turbomolecular pump for pumping the main chamber.  Current research is focused on understanding surface self-assembly at the nanoscale and the role of bulk vacancy transport in
surface smoothing processes.
