EastAsiaNet is a network of leading European research schools with a well-developed social-science focus on East Asia, plus others that aspire to develop in this direction. It takes up issues that surpass the capacity of single institutions in training and in research. Ultimately, it contributes high-level expertise to a European perspective on Euro-Asia relations.

EastAsiaNet Award for Academic Books and Articles granted in April 2014

At the 11th EastAsiaNet research workshop and business meeting held at Halifax Hall, the University of Sheffield in April 2014, the Board approved the jury to reach a decision on the second EastAsiaNet Awards for Academic Books and Articles. In June 2014, the jury agreed the two winners. The purpose of the EastAsiaNet Award is to recognize and encourage exemplary scholarship in contemporary East Asian studies with a social science focus.

EastAsiaNet Award for Academic Books and Articles granted in October 2012

At the 10th EAN research workshop and business meeting held at the CIDOB Foundation of Barcelona in October 2012, the first EastAsiaNet Awards for Academic Books and Articles were granted. The purpose of the EastAsiaNet Award is to recognize and encourage exemplary scholarship in contemporary East Asian studies with a social science focus.

EastAsiaNet partner CIDOB consolidates its position in the international think tanks’ elite

EastAsiaNet’s cooperating partner in Barcelona, CIDOB (Barcelona Centre for International Affairs), has consolidated its position in the 2013 ranking of the well-known Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the International Relations Program, University of Pennsylvania.

In the 2013 ranking, the CIDOB and appears in the following categories:

  • Top Think Tanks Worldwide (U.S. and non-U.S.), No. 64
  • Top Think Tanks in Western Europe, No. 16
  • Think Tank to Watch, No. 12
