Project Information

Liaison office of the “Council of the World of Work” (Rat der Arbeitswelt) for Germany

Together with the German Economic Institute (IW) from Cologne and under the direction of the Prognos AG (Berlin), since the end of 2019 the IAQ has been developing the Monitoring of Working Conditions (Arbeitsweltberichterstattung) of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) as part of the liaison office of the "Council of the World of Work" (Rat der Arbeitswelt). The liaison office is additionally supported by the media agency Blumberry (Berlin).

The "Council of the World of Work" was appointed at the beginning of 2020 by Federal Minister of Labour Hubertus Heil.  This independent body is to compile and analyse changes in the world of work and the challenges they pose and to develop recommendations for policymakers and practitioners. The Council comprises representatives from business practice, science and society (https://www.rat-der-arbeitswelt.de/).

The Council of the World of Work is responsible for the annual report on the world of work (Arbeitswelt-Bericht), which contains changing topics, and discusses current developments in the world of work, presents results in an understandable form and formulates recommendations for action for policymakers and company stakeholders. The liaison office supports the Council in the preparation of the annual report, designs and commissions the necessary accompanying research and promotes networking with actors from the workplace.

In addition, the liaison office is responsible for setting up and maintaining an Internet portal to supplement the annual reports as a further pillar of the reporting on the world of work. The portal collects data, information and scientific findings on the long-term development and current situation of the world of work and prepares them for an interested and broad public. The liaison office develops the empirical overall concept and the indicators, reviews available data and information and ensures that it is prepared in accordance with scientific standards.
