CURRICULUM VITAE
Cornel Thill graduated in 1991 from Aachen University of Technology in Naval Architecture (ship’s wave pattern analysis in shallow water). Following his graduation he worked for six years as scientific officer at Gerhard Mercator University Duisburg (Germany). In these years he earned a doctorate on numerical simulation of multi-phase flows using anisotropic adaptive grid algorithms. He succeeded his career at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) as project manager resistance and propulsion. Since 2003 he is working as a Senior Project Manager in the department Ships Powering of MARIN. His special research fields are fast and unconventional hull forms, air lubricated ships and ventilated propulsors as well as CFD application and development. Since 2005 he is assistant professor at the University of Duisburg / Essen (Germany). He gives lectures on Dynamics of Sailing and Planing Crafts.
