Dialogue with the European Union
DIA-EU
DIA-EU – Dialogue with the European Union is a project supported by the European Commission in the framework of the programme „Europe for Citizens“.
Through national conferences the project partners seek to establish contacts and discussions with different target groups to involve them into the dialogue with the European Union to foster citizen participation in the affairs and decision-making of the EU.
As partners of the Institute for Work and Technology, Gelsenkirchen, the E-Competence Agency at the UDE is happy to provide a small conference at our university to support this project. The conference is open to all students, wishing to know or discuss more about the European Union, including its policies in the field of Higher Education. Especially, we would like to invite students from non-EU countries to make them more aware of the EU and its contribution to policies and visions of the 21st century.
Programme:
Three presentations will highlight relevant aspects of our subject:
- The European Union – Some Basics (Dr. Anke Petschenka)
- Lifelong Learning and Higher Education – Keys in European Development (Steffi Engert)
- The European Documentation Centre at the University Duisburg-Essen (Gotthard Hoffmann)
- Erasmus – Fostering Mobility and Exchange for Students, a personal view of an Erasmus student (Sebastian Steffens)
The session is moderated by Charity Muhuthia.
In addition to questions and discussions in the conference session, we invite you to stay on for an informal exchange and some finger food.
As a souvenir and a reminder of the Dialogue in Europe, every student participant will receive an USB stick (2GB) with the DIA-EU logo.
