E-Competence for Students - Students advising students

Success in your studies and later in your career today largely depends on your e-competence, i.e. your ability to use digital technologies and media.  To progress in your studies without hindrances, you should get to know the different “e-tools” offered at the University and how to benefit from using them. At times you may be forced to use the applications such as. BSCW Server, Wikis, Moodle, or PowerPoint s etc at very short notice.

To help you along in these and related matters the E-Competence Agency at the University of Duisburg-Essen offers as a new service “Studierende beraten Studierende” (Students advising students). This project  will allow you as the student to get advice from trained students on how to make maximum use out of the e-services available at the University.  The project is very flexible and you can contact the Student Advisor at any time, no appointment required. The program will offer:

1. One on one advice at the E-point counter on how to use the different digital applications e.g. Moodle, BSCW Server, DuEPublico etc

The student team from the ECA will be available weekly at the E-point counter in the University Library for one on one advice. You may ask them all questions concerning the digital services and e-learning tools offered by the CIM and UB.

2. Workshops on different e-tools

We will offer small workshops weekly on the different e-tools offered at the University. You can attend the workshops spontaneously no registration will be required. You or your Student Association (Fachschaft) may also request presentations on specific topics relevant for your studies

3. Information and Demos during Lectures

When requested by Lecturers, the student team will also make presentations during the lecture on the tools that you may use for that lecture.
Do you still have questions or proposals on our offer? Why don’t you get in touch with us through email or through filling in the contact form? We look forward to hearing from you!
