The research training group Nanotronics is focused on the scientific problem of converting light into electricity and electrical current into light using nanoparticles as functional building blocks. Possible devices are large area displays and solar cells.

The concept of the research training group (graduate school) is based on three columns: interdisciplinary education, innovative research and industrial cooperation.

The research training group Nanotronics is embedded between the Collaborative Research Center SFB 445 "Nanoparticles from the Gas Phase" which is focussed on the fundamental research and the "Science to Business Center Nanotronics" of the Degussa AG which is working on the industrial aspects of Nanotechnology.
