Welcome
Driven by Innovation: The BeMoCat Vision
We're delighted to welcome you to the BeMoCat research group website.
As part of the Technical Chemistry I group led by Prof. Stephan Barcikowski, a renowned expert in the industrial-scale laser synthesis of nanoparticles, we build on his group's cutting-edge expertise. This includes laser ablation, fragmentation, melting, and the introduction of defects into nanoparticles—tools we use to develop the next generation of catalysts.
Imagine this: what if we could tailor metal oxide support materials—introducing oxygen vacancies or strategic dopants—while also precisely engineering nanoparticles, even with complex or unconventional compositions? Combining these materials opens the door to creating truly exceptional catalysts. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
As our society shifts toward sustainability, the chemical industry must adapt its processes accordingly. Achieving these ambitious goals will require innovative catalytic solutions—and that's where we come in. At BeMoCat, we investigate catalytic processes and develop new catalysts rooted in a deep understanding of materials and surface reactions. This foundation allows us to design catalysts in a more rational, targeted way.
Our research focuses on catalyst development through a material- and process-driven approach. We carefully characterize our catalysts and test them in relevant reactions, ranging from electrocatalysis to thermal catalysis. This data-driven methodology helps us continuously improve catalyst design and performance.
We invite students, industry professionals, and academic partners alike to explore our work. Whether you're looking for collaboration, inspiration, or simply curious about our research—you are welcome here.
Enjoy exploring our website, and feel free to get in touch if you're interested in working with us or learning more about our projects.
