The GUIDEplus project expands the "Centre for Start-ups and Innopreneurship at the University of Duisburg-Essen" (GUIDE), which was founded in 2019. It enables start-up teams to technically implement their start-up ideas in newly created Co-Creation Labs. In the promotion of start-ups, the various faculties cooperate with the five main research areas of the UDE, including Urban Systems, and jointly focus on the further development of external networks. This strengthens the UDE's networking in the region and beyond. To implement these projects, two co-creation labs with an affinity to start-ups and transfer will be set up as part of GUIDEplus. These are conceptually set up and operated by the professorships "Technical Material and Product Innovation" and "Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Information Systems". The first professorship works on increasing efficiency in material expenditure and energy and on switching to sustainable materials. The second professorship is dedicated to sustainable management with the linking of the thematic complexes of supply chain management, digitalisation and trade. Examples are new digitalised urban or regional commerce platforms and service models that combine city-shaping trade structures with digital procurement channels (e-commerce) and sustainable urban logistics services in the sense of novel ideas. The co-creation labs are thematically complementary and build a bridge between theory and entrepreneurship - between research projects and start-up activities.
