Summer Academy of the Scientific Institutions of the Ruhr Region

The Ruhr Region in Europe

In June 2010, students have the opportunity to take part in a summer academy, held by the scientific instituions in the Ruhr Region. Together with scientists from many different disciplines, they will learn about and critically discuss the connections between Europe and the Ruhr Region, including perspectives on past and present. Artists will also take part in the discussions, they will perform, give lectures and workshops.
The topics of the summer academy, which will take place 6 – 12 June, are:

  • Migration/Education
  • Space/City/Metropolis
  • Arts/Culture
  • Technology/Medicine

Members of the Essen College of Gender Studies taking part in the summer academy are:

  • Prof. Dr. Ute Klammer (Patronship of Migration/Education)
  • Prof. Dr. Maritta Heisel (Workshop on Gender, Education and Technology)
