Stockroom & stockroom orders

Special location stockroom

Dissertations, large-format works, books which are rarely used or which need to be protected and older volumes of journals
are located in closed stockrooms and are not accessible directly.

Generally applies:

Ordered media will be provided for one week.

Duisburg campus:
Orders from the strockroom in Duisburg will be ready for collection from 10am the following day at the desk on the first floor of the LK Library. Media from the external stockrooms will be available within 4 days.

Essen campus:
Depending on the time of the order, orders from the stockroom in Essen are made available at the service desk on the ground floor of the Humanities and Social Sciences Library from Monday to Friday at 10am, noon and 3pm.

Media ordered from the MNT Library are ready for collection at the service desk in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library within 3 working days.

Stockroom orders from the other campus are ready for collection within 3 working days due to campus delivery service regulations.

Items from the closed stockroom that can be ordered and borrowed are marked in the catalogue with the addition "Magazin - kein Zugang, nur bestellbar via Primo" (= "Stockroom - no access, can only be ordered via Primo") and have the location marks D07, D09, D99 or E05, E07, E37.

How to order:

  • Log in to your library account via the "Login" link.
  • Select the link "Reserve the next available item or order it to the other campus."
  • Select your desired pick-up location.

You will get a notification as soon as the item is ready for collection at the lending desk.

Media not on loan (reference copies)

Items from the closed stockrooms that cannot be borrowed are marked in the catalog with the addition "Magazin - kein Zugang, nur bestellbar via Primo" (= "Stockroom - no access, can only be ordered via Primo") and have the location marks D04, D06, D08, D14, D16, D96, D98 or E04, E06, E08, E36.

How to order:

  • Log in to your library account via the "Login" link.
  • Select the link "Reserve the next available item or order it to the other campus."
  • Select the branch library you would like to consult.

You will get a notification as soon as the item is available.

Articles from journals in the stockroom

UDE members and students can order articles from journals which are located in the stockrooms via internal article delivery service.

Please look for the journal title in Primo. Click on the coloured symbols in the result list to learn which volumes are actually available in print or online and which volumes can be ordered.

Choose the link "Bestellung über den Aufsatzlieferdienst (nur für Hochschulangehörige!)" and complete the order form including your personal data.

The article will be sent to you via e-mail as a pdf file.

How to place your order

Journal volumes from the stockroom

Journal volumes which are located in the closed stockrooms can be ordered through a link from the cataloge.

Please look for the journal title in Primo. Click on the coloured symbols to learn which volumes are actually available in print or online and which volumes can be ordered.

Choose the link "Bände aus dem geschlossenen Magazin zur Ansicht bestellen" and complete the order form with you personal data.

The volumes will be supplied in the particular branch library. You will receive a notification.

In case the order option is not displayed in Primo, you can access and complete the order form directly.

Special issues

Special issues or special editions of journals are marked with the status display "Special issue, reference collection" (= "Zsn-Stücktitel, Präsenz"). All users can order them via Primo.

Please click on the link "Locations" in the result list and afterwards on the link "Sign in to request" or "Order to view" in the column "Request Options" and complete the order form. 

The volumes will be supplied in the particular branch library. No notification will be sent.

In case the order option is not displayed in Primo, you can access and complete the order form directly.

Supplements to journals (CDs, DVDs)

Supplements to journals located in the closed stockrooms, such as CDs or DVDs, are lendable. All users can order them via Primo.

Please click on the link "Locations" in the result list and afterwards on the link "Sign in to request" or "Hold" in the column "Request Options". 

You will get a notification as soon as the item is ready for collection at the lending desk.
