Open Positions

2D-MATURE invites applications for 24 positions for PhD candidates (m/f/d) in the research areas of

  • synthesis and processing of scalable 2D materials;
  • analysis and modeling of their functionality in realistic architectures; and
  • implementation of these materials in optoelectronic and energy storage devices.

There are

  • 11 positions in Canada at University of Waterloo

A subset of these positions will be for a “cotutelle” between UDE and UW, in which the candidates will spend equal time at UDE and UW. UW is also advertising 8 positions for a thesis-based Master of Applied Science.

The PhD candidates will be jointly supervised by two PIs with complementary scientific expertise, typically one from each country. All PhD projects are designed in a way that research is mainly performed at the home institution, but with a compulsory research stay of 6-8 months of the PhD candidate at the partner institution in the respective other country. A highly attractive and professional qualification program is mandatory.
