Application & Transfer
Scientific findings achieve their full long-term value only when they perform reliably under real-world conditions and can be successfully transferred into industrial applications. Within the Application & Transfer research area, we therefore focus on transferring novel manufacturing technologies into real production environments.
Our work centers on demonstrators, pilot applications and validated process chains that are developed jointly with industry partners and tested under application-oriented conditions. Our goal is not only to demonstrate the technical feasibility of new approaches, but also to systematically evaluate their performance in terms of process stability, reproducibility, scalability and economic integration.
We do not regard technology transfer as a downstream step that begins only after research has been completed, but as an integral part of the development process. Industrial requirements such as traceability, automation capability, reproducibility and process robustness are therefore considered from the outset and systematically integrated into the development of new methods and process strategies.
Our research combines fundamental understanding, experimental development and industrial implementation to create scalable solutions for modern production systems. This includes the analysis and optimization of existing processes as well as the development of new manufacturing strategies, hybrid process chains and application-specific solutions for different materials and component requirements.
In addition, we consider modern manufacturing technologies to be an important building block for future industrial resilience and sustainable value creation. Additive Manufacturing opens up new opportunities for resource efficiency, functional integration and decentralized production of complex components. Our research therefore contributes not only to technological advancement, but also to the transformation of industrial production systems in their economic and societal context.
