Scientific Activities
15.06. - 18.06.2026 POLYTOPO Workshop on Topological Textures
The workshop on Topological textures: experiment, theory, simulation, and mathematical analysis took place from June 15 to 18, 2026, in Iași, Romania. The event was part of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action POLYTOPO and was organized by Roger Moser (University of Bath), Dennis Meier (University of Duisburg-Essen), Michele Ruggeri (University of Bologna), and Emilia Witkowska (Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences). The workshop brought together physicists and mathematicians working on systems and phenomena influenced by topological structures, covering topics ranging from magnetic materials, ferroelectrics, structured light, superfluids, and superconductors to liquid crystals.
31.05. - 04.06.2026 857. Seminar of the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus-Foundation
The 857th WE-Heraeus-Seminar Advanced Imaging of Ferroic Materials took place from May 31 to June 4, 2026, at the Physics Center in Bad Honnef. The seminar was organized by Prof. Dr. Dennis Meier (UDE) and Prof. Dr. Manfred Fiebig (ETH Zürich), and brought together researchers working on ferroic materials, advanced imaging techniques, and theoretical modelling. The programme featured invited lectures, poster presentations, and extensive discussions on a wide range of topics across the field of ferroics. The seminar provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, highlighting recent advances, and strengthening connections within the international ferroics community.
26.05.2026 RC FEMS Seminar at the University of Duisburg-Essen
As part of the seminar series of the Research Center Future Energy Materials and Systems (RC FEMS), our group hosted the latest seminar at the University of Duisburg-Essen and presented its research activities and objectives. Following the presentation, we continued the exchange during a scientific walk through the forest in Duisburg, providing an informal setting for further discussion and networking. We were happy to welcome the RC FEMS members to Duisburg and look forward to the upcoming seminars.
11.03.2026 Symposium at DPG Spring Meeting 2026
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the outstanding speakers who contributed to our symposium Beyond Transistors: Material-Based Edge Computing Paradigms at the DPG Spring Meeting 2026 in Dresden. Jointly organized by Karin Everschor-Sitte, Atreya Majumdar, and Dennis Meier from the University of Duisburg-Essen, the symposium explored emerging material-driven approaches for future computing.
