857. WE-Heraeus-Seminar
From May 31 to June 4, 2026, the WE-Heraeus seminar Advanced Imaging of Ferroic Materials will take place in Bad Honnef. Information on registration and the preliminary program can be found here.
Symposium at the DPG Spring Meeting 2026
This year's DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section will feature the symposium Beyond Transistors: Material-Based Edge Computing Paradigms (SYBT), which we are co-organizing.
Functional Topology on the Nanoscale
Our research group focuses on investigating functional topological structures in ferroic materials, particularly ferroic domain walls and non-trivial spin textures. These exhibit extraordinary physical properties that open up promising prospects for future applications in information and communication technology.
A central component of our work is the application and development of state-of-the-art microscopy methods, with a focus on atomic force microscopy. Using techniques such as conductance atomic force microscopy, piezoresponse force microscopy, and magnetic force microscopy, we investigate electrical and magnetic phenomena with nanometer-scale resolution.
News
August 2025: Prof. Dr. Dennis Meier has been elected as the new president of the European Magnetism Association (EMA) .

Research Projects
Our research is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) as part of the ATRONICS project. The aim of the project is to develop a new generation of atomically scaled and energy-efficient electronics based on ferroelectric domain walls.

Our research group is part of the European network TOPOCOM, which, together with leading partners from science and industry, is researching novel and sustainable computing and storage technologies based on topological solitons in ferroic materials.

We are a member of the Research Center Future Energy Materials and Systems, which brings together researchers with the aim of developing new materials and technologies for sustainable and resource-efficient energy systems.
