What influences does teachers' professional knowledge have on the learning success of their students? How does their professional knowledge need to be developed to result in better lessons and more motivated, successful students?
Researchers at the universities of Duisburg-Essen, Bochum and Munich are taking on these and other questions in their joint research project, ProwiN. The name, ProwiN, is short for the German term „Professionswissen in den Naturwissenschaften" (Professional knowledge in the natural sciences), focusing on the professional knowledge of teachers (Prowi-) in the natural sciences (N). The study is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
