Electromobility has the potential to sustainably revolutionise today's mobility into a mobility of the future. However, in order to be able to exhaust this potential in an environmentally conscious and efficient manner, innovative mobility concepts are needed to integrate electromobility into the existing infrastructure from an urban and transport structural point of view and to push for the integration of alternative energies. This also includes the development of coordinated location concepts that propose strategically sensible locations based on demand. After all, the full potential of electromobility can only be exploited if the sustainability of the charging infrastructure can be guaranteed.

How can mobility be integrated into the existing urban infrastructure and how can a new mobility awareness be encouraged? What are the requirements for a charging station location in the different implementation phases? And how can the new locations be connected to existing transport networks? These and other questions are being addressed by the ISS as part of the broad-based colognE-mobil project, the research subject of which is the testing of electric mobility in everyday life in the Cologne area.
