Christian K. Karl studied civil engineering with majors in structural engineering and construction management and he finished his PhD in Modelling and Simulation. He worked in a variety of fields in national and international projects in the building, infrastructure and energy sector. Currently, he is Head of Vocational Pedagogy and Specialized Didactics in Construction Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen. As a creative man of action, lateral thinker and futurologist, he has already advised well-known clients from business and administration.
His activities in research and consulting have always a multi-layer approach which is focused on a variety of fields, like technology, the environment, economy and social issues and finally the individual as user of technologies and enabler for a sustainable circular economy. In this he is developing and using modelling and simulation tools as well as gaming approaches to investigate human behaviour in complex systems.
Part of his contribution to the joint work of JUS was in the Water-Energy-Food Nexus Modelling, in which he contributed his expertise in system dynamics.
