Studying at the Faculty of Chemistry

Practical courses

The chemistry study programme includes theoretical and practical courses. We place great emphasis on this close combination of theory and practice. In the practical course, the material covered in the lectures and seminars is expanded upon by means of numerous preparations, analyses and didactically selected experiments.

Practical course in Analytical Chemistry

The practical course should enable students to carry out instrumental analyses independently and to evaluate their results in relation to quality. Here, the students will further deepen the knowledge they have gained from the lectures on Analytical Chemistry I and II and reproduce it themselves using practical examples.

Evonik internship between master's degree and doctorate

The Faculty of Chemistry has developed a new internship program in cooperation with Evonik Industries AG. Here, students can gain initial industrial experience in the period between their master's thesis and doctoral dissertation and obtain specific information for their later career choice. Evonik offers the opportunity for a 3-month internship here at the Hanau site. The focus here is primarily on synthetic work. So if you would like to see first-hand how laboratory syntheses are carried out in industry and how a large industrial company works - this is your chance!
The contact person at UDE is Prof. Dr. Jochen Niemeyer (jochen.niemeyer@uni-due.de). He is available at all times to answer questions and will be happy to forward your application to Evonik. The interns are selected by Evonik. You can find further information in our flyer. https://www.uni-due.de/imperia/md/content/fb9/evonik_praktikum_en.pdf
