Each project will be critically discussed biannually by individual Internal Advisory Committees (IACs), consisting of the Tandem PI team responsible for each project and an additional PI of the RTG. If necessary for graduation, one of the individual committee members will be selected according to her or his accreditation in the Faculty of Biology of the UDE.

The Translational Mentoring Board (TMB) will provide the early career researchers with mentoring support particularly regarding the rapid translation of investigated subjects. This will be provided through lectures and individual mentoring meetings. It is composed of internal experts in the field:

• Prof. Katja Ferenz (artificial oxygen carriers)
• Prof. Peter Lüdike (heart failure, MIF, inflammatory profiling)
• Prof. Amir Mahabadi (EAT, cardiovascular imaging, supervisor CTU)
• Prof. Christos Rammos (vascular function, clinical dysbiosis)
• Prof. Matthias Thielmann (myocardial revascularization, clinical RIC)

The External Scientific Advisory Board (ESAB) will provide expert guidance to the candidates and consists of several internationally renowned scientists from the field of cardiovascular diseases:

• Prof. Gerd Heusch (Chair of the ESAB, UME, Germany)
• Prof. Derek Yellon (Hatter Cardiovascular Institute, University College London, UK)
• Prof. Borja Ibáñez (Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research, Madrid, Spain)
• Prof. Hans Bøtker (Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark)
