Dr. Astrid Klooth - Delegation trip: One week visit to Portsmouth, Duisburg's long-standing twin town

Dr. Astrid Klooth, vice chairperson of Deutsch-Britische Gesellschaft Duisburg and member of Duisburg Anglo-German Friends (Duisburger Portsmouthfreunde) went on a one week visit to Portsmouth. Portsmouth and Duisburg were twinned in 1950, which makes it the second oldest Anglo-German city partnership. Dr. Astrid Klooth and her group, together with members of the British Duisburg-Portsmouth Friendship Committee, were given the opportunity to visit cultural and historic landmarks out and about Portsmouth. The visit to the city culminated in a welcome reception by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth. At this event in the historic townhall of the city, both, the English and the German committee members, stressed the importance of partnerships like the one between Duisburg and Portsmouth, especially in times of Brexit and economic crisis.
