Report on the Review Conference of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

From 27 April to 22 May 2026, the 191 States Parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) gathered in New York for the Eleventh Review Conference. As in 2015 and 2022, the states were unable to agree on a final outcome document and thus on common steps towards nuclear disarmament. INEF researcher Leonardo Bandarra attended the conference in New York and analyses the key lines of conflict in his report.

He also discusses what conditions would be necessary in the future to achieve joint outcomes once again and to overcome the persistent deadlocks in the review process.
