Areas of Focus

My research focuses on people without EU citizenship who migrate to Germany to pursue dual vocational training. Paying particular attention to the period before departure, I examine the conditions shaping their transition to Germany and how they experience this transition as prospective trainees. My interests lie in the social dynamics of a society shaped by migration, transnational practices and relations, and the implications for education and migration policy. My empirical work follows an ethnographic approach. In both research and teaching, I seek to make space for diverse experiences, including the perspectives of Black people.

Research and Teaching Interests

  • Educational and vocational migration
  • Black and Postcolonial Studies
  • Poverty and social inequality
  • Methodology and methods of reconstructive social research
  • Critical and reflexive social research
