Workshop on Transnational Labor Markets -- 26/27 June 2014

Transnational Labor Markets: Bridging Different Regulatory and Cultural Contexts

Questions of how cross-border labor markets emerge, develop and are structured will be at the center of a two-day workshop which a group of researchers around Ingo Schulz-Schaeffer, Anja Weiß and Sigrid Quack are organizing on June 26 and 27, 2014 in the context of the strategic research area “Transformations of Contemporary Societies” at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Researchers of the UDE and UA Ruhr will discuss with colleagues from other German and European universities and research institutes the emergence of transnational labor markets, cross-border mobility of workers and work tasks, and the challenges of and opportunities for transnational regulation. In the context of the workshop, results from ongoing research projects directed by Karen Shire, Ingo Schulz-Schaeffer and Petra Stein, which together received 1 Mio € funding from the DFG under the framework paper “Cross-border Labor Markets”, will be presented.
