Lebenslauf
Prof. Dr. Volker Gruhn ist seit dem Sommersemester 2010 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Software Engineering an der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte in diesem Bereich liegen auf mobilen Anwendungen und der Auseinandersetzung mit den Auswirkungen der Digitalen Transformation, insbesondere der Entwicklung und des Einsatzes von Cyber-Physical Systems.
Volker Gruhn studierte von 1982 bis 1987 Informatik an der Universität Dortmund. 1991 folgte dort die Promotion. Anschließend arbeitete er für das Fraunhofer-Institut für Software- und Systemtechnik, ab 1994 war er für zwei Jahre Mitglied der Geschäftsführung eines Softwarehauses der damaligen VEBA AG.
Nach seiner Tätigkeit in der freien Wirtschaft kehrte der Informatiker zu seinen Wurzeln zurück: Er übernahm 1997 an der Universität Dortmund eine Professur für Praktische Informatik am Fachbereich Informatik. Dort forschte er zur Entwicklung von e-Business-Anwendungen und komponentenbasierten Software-Architekturen. Ein zweimonatiger Forschungsaufenthalt an der Swinburne University in Melbourne folgte im Jahr 2000. Danach zog es den gebürtigen Wittener in die Messestadt Leipzig. Als Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Angewandte Telematik / e-Business erforschte er von 2002 bis 2010 an der Universität Leipzig die Entwicklung mobiler, verteilter Softwaresysteme.
Volker Gruhn gründete 1997 die adesso AG mit und ist heute Vorsitzender des Aufsichtsrats. Er ist Autor und Co-Autor von über 300 nationalen und internationalen Veröffentlichungen und Konferenzbeiträgen.
