Teaching
In our lectures, we want to teach students how to design tools that people work with and that can promote collaboration between different people. We attach particular importance to the application of the knowledge that we contribute to our events. Therefore, projects accompanying lectures, for example, are an integral part of our courses. We provide background information, methods, and technical knowledge for designing such tools. Our teaching includes both basic courses and more specific content.
Theses (Bachelor and Master)
We consistently offer bachelor and master theses with changing topics and orientations. If you are interested in a thesis on Augmented Reality, Human-Robot Interaction, Human-AI Interaction, or any other exciting area from MCI, please feel free to send us a request by e-mail to the following address and answer the questions contained therein Request Theses.
Note: Please understand that we cannot consider requests in which the questions in the link are not answered!

Previous practical projects
Virtual wardrobe
This practical project aims to develop a virtual platform that enables sustainable clothing exchange and sales. On this platform, users can digitally store their clothing in a virtual wardrobe and thus participate in a styling process. The main goal of this project is to promote sustainability.
Responsible: Dr. Alper Beser, Esra Gümüs
Semester: WS 2024/25
HRI interaction scenarios
In order to study human-robot interactions in our new Human-Centered Robots Lab, we regularly develop practical human-robot interaction scenarios that are based on real-world human-robot interactions but are designed in such a way that they can be easily carried out in the laboratory.
Responsible: Dr. Sebastian Büttner, Enrico Guerra
Semester: WS 2024/25
Augmented Reality in E-Commerce
In the context of this project, you will develop ideas for the use of AR in e-commerce, implement them conceptually and as prototypes, and evaluate them. The aim of these concepts could be to make online shopping more exciting, interesting, and entertaining. A Microsoft HoloLens 2 will be provided to you for development as part of the project.
Responsible: Dr. Alper Beser, Yannic Söhngen
Semester: WS 2023/24
Augmented Reality (AR) Experiences in Sports
As part of this project, you will develop ideas for the use of AR in the sports sector, implement them conceptually, and as prototypes and evaluate them. The aim of these concepts could be to make sporting activities more exciting, interesting, and entertaining and, if necessary, to encourage people to do (more) sport. You can also use AR to provide sports-related information and thus contribute to better performance in the respective sports discipline.
Semester: SS 2023
Robot Ludens - Robots as players in board games
As part of the practical project, a robot is to be taught how to play board games. The robot should be able to take part in various board games with (one or more) human players.
