Related Professional Fields
Our program prepares the students of both programs for entry into the job market on three levels:
- the acquisition of specialist knowledge,
- the acquisition of interdisciplinary competencies ensured through contact to other disciplines in the Integrative and Complementary course offerings, and
- the acquisition of hands-on experience through an internship of several months.
These three points ensure that graduates have the requisite knowledge and skills to successfully enter the job market in the highly complex fields of urban planning and development, city management and urban research.
The “Sustainable Urban Technologies” program is geared towards the following professional fields:
- Strategic city planning and development (including: zoning and master planning, as well as specific topics like integrated energy concepts, integrated concepts for using waste water, etc.)
- Restoring, maintaining, and modifying urban infrastructure and transport systems
- Developing and managing large-scale urban projects (i.e. converting old industrial sites for a variety of new uses, e-city development)
- Urban research
- The “Urban Culture, Society, and Space” program is geared towards the following fields:
- Strategic city planning and development (specific topics like development clusters, creative milieus, etc.)
- Moderating and mediating formal and informal participatory processes in urban development
- City marketing, city promotion and cultural management (image building and increasing soft location factors, management of large-scale events)
- Urban consulting
- Urban research
