Alessia Zaffaroni (MA CEAS) Wins Award by Sparkasse Duisburg for Her Extraordinary Study Performance

Alessia Zaffaroni, a MA Contemporary East Asian Studies student, is among the award-winners of the “Sparkassenpreis 2019” for outstanding students and doctoral candidates of the University of Duisburg-Essen

Every year, the Sparkasse Duisburg gives this award to selected students and doctoral candidates of UDE. Ms. Zaffaroni, who is currently in Japan for an internship, was selected based on her strong performance throughout the study program. Already having mastered Japanese before coming from Italy to Duisburg in 2017, she opted to take the CEAS Chinese language classes and expand on her East Asian language skills even more. For her MA thesis at the Chair of Prof. Shire, she will focus on contemporary issues in the Japanese society.
