June 20268th International Conference on Advanced Nanoparticle Generation and Excitation by Lasers in Liquids (ANGEL)
One of the highlights for our community was the ANGEL Conference, which took place once again this year. This time, it was held in Spain, where almost our entire group attended—except for Robert, who apparently thought it was the perfect time to get married 😉
Congratulations on this occasion.
The conference provided an excellent opportunity to attend inspiring talks, exchange ideas with leading researchers in the field, and gain new perspectives within the steadily growing laser processing in liquids community.
We are especially pleased that Wiebke received an award for her very first presentation at an international conference. Christoph's talk on hangovers and coffee was also very well received—because yes, the evenings kept getting longer and longer. 🍻
All in all, it was a highly successful conference, and we are already looking forward to the next edition in Monterrey in 2028.
April 2026Invited Presentation at Groupement de Recherche
From 1–2 April, Robert was invited by the Groupement de Recherche (GDR) on high-entropy alloys in Toulouse, where he presented data from his PhD thesis as well as additional studies from the group on this topic. His contributions sparked considerable interest and led to engaging questions and discussions with peers attending the conference from France, Germany, the USA, and beyond.
Apart from that, Toulouse proved to be a wonderful city to explore, offering numerous green parks for nice walks and the opportunity to enjoy the charm of the “Ville Rose.”

March 2026Group Activity: Moonlight Mini Golf
Yesterday, on Wednesday, we came together for a joint gathering aimed not only at scientific exchange but also at strengthening the social aspect and having some fun.
We kicked things off with an entertaining round of moonlight mini golf, where Christoph scored by far the most points – we’ll just let him keep believing that’s a good thing 😉
We wrapped up the evening in a relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and cold drinks at Bananaleaf. All in all, a truly enjoyable and successful get-together!
