Constitutive-Model-Free Data-Driven Mechanics

Alternative to the classical method to pre-define constitutive material law in a model, a recently developed computing approach referred to Constitutive-Model-Free Data-Driven Mechanics encodes the material behavior directly from the measurements representing material law. The approach is based on re-formulating Boundary Value Problems in a novel and different way, without the need to model a correlation between local state and flux.

Since December 2023, an independent research proposal of Dr. Mana Mohajer has got financially supported through the competitive Postdoc Seed Funding Program of University of Duisburg-Essen. The ongoing funded research project adopts the above-mentioned method to develop Constitutive-Model-Free Data-Driven solvers to address new categories of problems which require the characterization of different interfacial failures.
