Partnerships and networks
The University of Duisburg-Essen cooperates closely with various external partners. These include the surrounding cities, in particular the university locations of Duisburg and Essen, numerous foundations and the regional economy. Last but not least, cooperation with other universities plays a central role - regionally, nationally and internationally.
Dual Career Network Ruhr
The Dual Career Network Ruhr (DCN Ruhr) brings together institutions from science, business and administration from the Ruhr region. The aim is to support partners of newly appointed professors in their job search in the region.
Women's and Gender Studies Network
More than 400 gender researchers from a total of 37 universities in the state cooperate in the interdisciplinary Women's and Gender Studies Network NRW. The network's coordination and research office is located at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
RuhrFutur
RuhrFutur is a joint initiative of Stiftung Mercator, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the cities of Dortmund, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Herten, Mülheim an der Ruhr and the district of Recklinghausen, as well as the Ruhr University Bochum, the Technical University Dortmund, the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, the University Duisburg-Essen, the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences and the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) . Their goal is to sustainably improve the education system in the Ruhr region.
University Alliance Ruhr
The three universities in the Ruhr region, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Technische Universität Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen, cooperate in the University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr). Equality in science and research is a central guiding principle of the UA Ruhr and is firmly anchored in the university development of the participating universities.
