Bachelor & Master Projects

We continuously host Bachelor and Master thesis projects in molecular virology, immunology and metabolism. You will join ongoing research on HIV latency, hypoxia-driven immunity or Orthohantavirus–host interactions. Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, or data analysis is helpful, but curiosity and motivation matter most.

Example thesis topics:

  • CRISPRi targeting of HIV reservoirs — silencing HIV transcription in CD4⁺ T cells.
  • Metabolic profiling in latent infection — Seahorse assays and single-cell analysis of patient-derived T cells.

To apply, send a short motivation letter (max 1 page) and transcript to Roland or Hannah.

PhD

PhD Positions

We currently do not have formal PhD openings. However, excellent and self-motivated candidates are encouraged to get in touch early. We are happy to co-develop fellowship proposals (e.g. DFG, MSCA, DAAD) and design projects aligned with our research directions.

Fellowships & Funding

We support applications to competitive programs including DFG, MSCA, DAAD, and Boehringer Ingelheim fellowships. If your research interests match ours, feel free to reach out with a short project idea and CV to discuss potential fit.

Internships

Internships & Student Assistants

We occasionally offer short-term internships or HiWi positions in experimental and computational virology. Availability depends on ongoing projects and supervision capacity. Inquire by email if you are interested in hands-on lab experience or data analysis work.
