Research

Our reseach is concerned with all aspects of finite element methods and their application to physical problems. Particularly we work on the development of mixed finite element methods and their analysis. Currently we focus our attention on

  • Least Squares Finite Element Methods and their relation to other mixed methods
  • Adaptive and isoparametric finite elements
  • Applications in solid and fluid mechanics
  • Project "First-order system least squares finite elements for finite elasto-plasticity" within the DFG priority programme SPP 1748
  • Project "Stress-based methods for variational inequalities in solid mechanics" within the DFG priority programme SPP 1962
