A NEW GERMAN-FRENCH RESEARCH PROJECT (2016-2019): (NEW) POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVE CLAIMS: A GLOBAL VIEW (FRANCE, GERMANY, BRAZIL, CHINA, INDIA)

In February 2013 Prof. Dr. Thomas Heberer was emerited. The Rector of the University of Duisburg-Essen has immediately awarded him a Senior Professorship for Politics and Society in China in order to provide a platform for the continuation of both his expertise in Chinese studies and his research projects. Prof. Dr. Thomas Heberer also continues to be a part of the DFG Research Training Group “Risk and East Asia”, sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Current research projects include a scientific research program titled “New Political Representative Claims: A Global View (Brazil, China, India, France & Germany)” sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG), and follow-up research on strategic behavior of Chinese private entrepreneurs in the aftermath of the ‘Competence Network’ “Governing in China: Prerequisites, Constraints and Potentials for Political Adaption and Innovation Capacity in the 21st Century“. Cooperation with national and international partner organizations is crucial for our research projects. Of special importance are our relationship to the Chair of Greater China Studies at the University of Tuebingen and various Chinese universities and research institutes.
