By plane

There are two airports near Duisburg: airport Düsseldorf (DUS) and Cologne/ Bonn (CGN).

If you arrive at DUS you can take regional trains (RE) or the S-Bahn (S) to Duisburg Hbf (Duisburg central station): S1, RE6, RE19, RE3 from platform 5 / RE5, RE1 from platform 1. This should take 8-20 minutes.
If you arrive at CGN you first have to take the train to Köln Hbf (Cologne central station) (RB 27 platform 1 / S19 platform 2) and from there to Duisburg Hbf (RE5 platform 1 A-C / RE1 from platform 4). Alternatively, you can take the RE6 from platform 3 to Duisburg Hbf directly.

By public transport

After arriving at Duisburg Hbf, you can go either by bus or tram. Both are run by the DVG regional transport authority (https://www.dvg-duisburg.de/nc/ ). You can buy tickets (if they’re not included in your train ticket) at ticket machines in the central station.

By bus:

Leave the train station at the east entrance (Osteingang). From there, take bus line 933 or 920 (Duisburg Uni Nord) or bus line 923 (Duisburg Sportpark) and exit at “Uni Nord – Lotharstraße.”
The circular-shaped buildings nearby are the university buildings. Just follow the signs to the department MG .

By tram:

Inside Duisburg Central Station, follow the signs for “U-Bahn / Straßenbahn”, go down one level, and take tram line 901 (direction Mülheim Hauptbahnhof) to “Zoo/Uni” (third stop). When exiting the tram, head down the street from where you came and on the left-hand side you should see the round shaped university buildings. Follow Mülheimer Straße and turn left on Lotharstraße. You will encounter a bus stop sign. To your left is now the department MG, where TWIST is located. Follow the signs to the correct building/rooms.

By car

⚠ Attention
Due to construction work, the direct access from the A2/A3/A40 via Carl-Benz-Straße is currently closed!

Coming from the A2/A3/A40, please use the alternative route from the Autobahn. Take the exit “Duisburg-Kaiserberg” and continue via Carl-Benz-Straße, Mülheimer Straße, Lotharstraße, Forsthausweg, and back onto Carl-Benz-Straße. From there, please follow the signs on foot to Section M and then to the MG building. When leaving, you can exit via Carl-Benz-Straße.
Coming from the A59, take the exit "Duisburg-Mitte, Koloniestraße". Turn left into Mozartstraße, then again left into Lotharstraße and then right into Forsthausweg. After a curve, you will reach the nearest parking lot (Universität Duisburg Essen - Parkhaus Campus Duisburg, Carl-Benz Straße) to the institute at Carl-Benz-Straße 201 (section M/L). From there, follow the signs by foot to section M and then to the MG building.
