AStA – Student representation (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss)
The general student representation (Allgmeiner Studierendenausschuss) represents the interests of the student body at the University of Duisburg-Essen within and beyond the University. The AStA offers various assistances to students:
- counselling on financial and legal issues in relation to your studies
- assistance to students with children
- Online job market
- Online accommodation offers
Departmental student organisation (Fachschaften)
Each department has a departmental student organisation which is elected by the students of that department. It is made up of several students who represent the interests of all the students of that department. Departmental student organisations organise a wide range of activities, some also organises a so-called orientation week for freshmen.
During this week, students will tell you of their experiences of student life and about the practical aspects of studying: Timetables, regulations, requirements to be met, practical courses, etc.
