Family Support Funding Family Support Measures

Inequality funding for family support measures to make careers in science more family-friendly.

  • Financing of extra-ordinary childcare costs
  • Childcare during CRC events
  • kids box
  • Funding for travel of children / relatives in need of care and their carer (e.g. spouses) to accompany fellows to conferences or research training events off-site

Female as well as male, i.e. mothers as well as fathers, are eligible to apply.

Family Support Funding Absence of Scientists

Support for researchers who need to be temporarily absent from work due to family responsibilities

  • Staff to support scientists with family commitments
  • Establishment of a home office
  • Establishment of a parent-child room

Female as well as male, i.e. mothers as well as fathers, are eligible to apply.

Equal Opportunity Funds Career Support for female Scientists

Funding for equal opportunity measures to improve the career chances of female scientists.

  • Mentoring-programmes
  • Coaching
  • Soft-skill-courses and workshops
  • Networking measures
    • E.g. participation in additional congresses or conferences, if the equality of opportunity for female scientists is promoted, e. g. by increasing the female scientist’s visibility and qualification or establishment of new cooperations)

Especially in higher career stages, female scientists are still under-represented. The measures are meant to qualify especially female doctoral and post-doctoral researchers for their following career steps and support them on their way to the top.

Sensitisation Funds Gender Awareness Funds

Financing of measures which help to make scientists aware of implicit biases regarding gender and help them gain gender competences.

  • Workshops
  • Gender-sensitive events about leadership
  • Sensitisation trainings for project leaders on how to select and hire personnel

These support measures are meant to facilitate the equality of opportunity for all scientists and rise awareness for gender-specific questions.

Please feel welcome to apply for these funds at any time.

The financial support is not limited to the listed measures. If there are other needs which coincide with the DFG guidelines or you have any other questions regarding these funds in general, please contact the CRC1430 scientific coordinator.

If you have identified a measure that can support you to make your career more family-friendly, improve your career chances (only for female careers) or help you gain gender competences, please:

  1. Contact the coordinator (Email) and discuss the identified measure 

  2. Send your application with your supervisor’s agreement to the coordinator asking for funding and if you get the funding

  3. organize your measure! The coordinator will be happy to assist.
