The AKS institute has a long tradition in international collaboration, which is continuously promoted and enhanced.

AKS is active in the EC research framework programme, both as coordinator and project partner. AKS has established long-term research collaborations with numerous universities in China, France, Finland, Mexico, Rumania and Canada. Funded by the AvH (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, https://humboldt-foundation.de/en/), DAAD (German Academic Exchange Agency, https://www.daad.de/en/) and DFG (German research foundation, https://www.dfg.de/en), the AKS hosts each year research visits of numerous AvH-, DAAD- and DFG-fellows, PhD students, post-doc and scholars. In addition, a number of PhD students spend their PhD study in AKS in joint PhD programmes.
