At the moment, I am working on three closely intertwined areas: (A) Digital Communication (B) Digital Methods and (C) Digital Didactics.

 A. Digital communication from a perspective of discourse analysis and media

Turning to the first area, my work addresses digital communication through the lens of discourse analysis and media linguistics. I conduct research on discourse on digital platforms as part of the DFG network “Diskurse – digital”(Discourse – digital). In addition to linguistic patterns, I am also interested in multimodal aspects (image, sound, video) of digital communication.

B. Digital methods: Corpus linguistics and digital methods

My research interest also includes digital methods for the empirical research of (digital) communication. I use corpus linguistic methods in my research and teaching. It is important to me to establish digital methods of social science and media science within linguistics.

C. Digital teaching: Wikipedology

The application of the above-mentioned areas to educational contexts (school, university/college and (in-)formal adult education) is another one of my research interests. Particularly the use of wiki-based systems is my focus. Information about Wikipedology can be found in the Wiki "Linguistic Wikipedology”.

Currently, I am participating in the extension of the research platform "Education in the digital world" ("Bildung in der digitalen Welt") at the interdiscplinary centre for educational research at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
