The students of the current DevGov class, here at at the Federal German Ministry of Economic Cooperation.
May 2026 - Exclusive High Level Work Shop by Prof. Isaac Owusu-Mensah
As Director of the Institute for Political Science at the University of Ghana and former presidential advisor, Prof. Isaac Owusu-Mensah visited our department at the beginning of May. Listening his workshop on "The Perilous Impact of Money on Democratisation in Africa" DevGov students were able to learn and discuss the role of money in party politics and campaigns, and the broader implications for governance, accountability, inclusion, and democratic development in West Africa. Many thanks to Prof. Owusu-Mensah for sharing his unqiue expertise and inspiring insights.
November 2025 - Trip to Germanys UN-City: Bonn
In addition to regular campus life, students participate in several excursions each year. For example, to Bonn, the former capital of the German Republic. Until today, the city hosts the densest network of NGOs, international enterprises, and institutions, like the United Nations. The picture you see here was taken from the Nelson Mandela Saal, the former conference room of the federal German government, which has often also served as a room for NATO meetings during the Cold War. Here, students of the DevGov and IBEP masters discussed the current state of international development politics. During their three-day stay in Bonn, the students also visited the headquarters of the Deutsche Welle and had several meetings with experienced professionals in the field of development cooperation.
June 2025 - Picnic at the Riverside
DevGov is not just a master's program; it's a community as well. When you're here, take the opportunity to explore the city with your new colleagues - just like this happy group of last year's DevGov (and some IBEP) students at Duisburg's longest Rhein Esplanade.
