6. Juli 2018UDE: Structured fiber radio networks in buildings

The telephone hangs on the twin-wire line, television on the coaxial cable, and the Internet is received via WLAN - many building networks are no longer up to date in view of growing mobility and ever larger data volumes. How can Germany make its networks faster and more secure?

3. März 2017It doesn't always have to be fiber optics - Fast Internet by radio

Surfing the Internet at turbo speed anywhere - that's what the fiber optic network is supposed to enable worldwide. However, expansion is proceeding at a snail's pace, even in Germany and especially in rural areas. But perhaps it doesn't have to be expensive underground cables. A new photonic antenna unit achieves the same speed by radio and can be installed in just a few days. It has now been successfully tested in the network of a European telecom company. The antenna was developed by optoelectronics experts at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE).

1. September 2016Visit our booth 694 at ECOC 2016

The University of Duisburg Essen will present coherent radio-over-fiber (CRoF) systems for next-generation optical access networks and mobile networks at ECOC 2016 from September 19 to 21. The CRoF systems developed within the IPHOBAC-NG project enable the extension of GPON and WDM-PON networks based on millimeter-wave radio architectures.
