Experiments in the Saline Perfused Heart of Mouse and Rat

Experiments in the Saline Perfused Heart of Mouse and Rat

The saline-perfused isolated heart model, developed in 1895 by Oscar Langendorff, offers the possibility of investigating the global function of the heart and the development of infarction after ischemia/reperfusion independently of the whole organism, thus eliminating neuronal effects and the influence of circulating blood elements.
