Experiments in Isolated Mitochondria of Mouse, Rat and Pig

Experiments in Isolated Mitochondria of Mouse, Rat and Pig

Mitochondria are potential end effectors of endogenous cardioprotection. Preserved mitochondrial function after myocardial infarction is crucial for the survival of cardiomyocytes and thus for the reduction of the final infarct size. Typical studies on mitochondria isolated from cardiac muscle tissue include mitochondrial respiration, calcium retention capacity, adenosine triphosphate production and the production of free oxygen radicals.
