Research Areas and Publications

Forschungsgebiet und Publikationen

Im Fokus steht die Analyse und Gestaltung von Kommunikations- und Kollaborationssystemen im Kontext von Arbeit, Privatleben und Gesellschaft. Vorrangig werden zwei Perspektiven betrachtet:

  • Digital Enterprise / Digital Organization: Neue Technologien und Konzepte für Kommunikation und Zusammenarbeit werden innerhalb von Organisationen und im Austausch mit Stakeholdern genutzt. Unsere Forschung konzentriert sich hier auf Fragen der Technologieakzaptanz, des Informations- und Datenaustauschs, des Kommunikationsmanagements und der virtuellen Teamarbeit.
  • Digital Society: Social Media und mobile Dienste haben die öffentliche Kommunikation stark beeinflusst und neue Fragen aufgeworfen. Der Fokus der Forschungsgruppe liegt  darauf, Informationsdiffusion und Muster in öffentlicher oder teilöffentlicher Social-Media-Kommunikation zu erkennen und zu verstehen.

Neben Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung (u.a. Befragungen, Interviews) werden Verfahren der Social Media Analytics (u.a. Soziale Netzwerkanalyse, Sentimentanalyse) sowie gestaltungsorientierte Ansätze (u.a. Design Science, Design Thinking) eingesetzt. Die Arbeitsgruppe ist in den Schwerpunkt Human-Centered Physical Systems der Fakultät Ingenieurwissenschaften an der Universität Duisburg-Essen sowie in das European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) eingebunden.
