Semester ticket

Your social contribution to the university each semester includes a payment for public transportation. Your student ID card in combination with the ticket in the myUDE app (https://www.uni-due.de/myude/) or a printout of the ticket is a valid transport ticket for in the area of North-Rhine Westphalia. It is called semester ticket.

You can find instructions for downloading the semester ticket here. 

With your semester ticket you may use any bus and any tram. When using trains, restrictions apply. Only the S-Bahn (suburban train) and trains called Regional-Express RE (local trains) can be used free with a semester ticket. Please make sure to be in 2nd class cabin, you may not be in 1st class cabin. If you enter an Intercity (IC) or IntercityExpress (ICE), you have to pay the complete fare!

Please note that your student ID must be valid in order to work as semester ticket. For the winter semester the validity is 1st October to 31st March, for the summer semester the validity is from 1st April to 30th September.

In Duisburg, the public transportation services are maintained by the Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG). There is a DVG information office at the main station (Hauptbahnhof). Here you can get the transportation timetable (Stadtfahrplan) for Duisburg and for other cities. The price for a Stadtfahrplan is about 1 €. The address of the DVG information office is:

Public transportation

Three bus routes, 926, 924 and 933 and a tram route, 901, serve the Campus Duisburg. The Campus Essen can be most easily reached by using the underground tramways U11, U17 and U18.
