Foundations

Science and research funding through foundations is an integral part of the research landscape in Germany. Foundations focus their research funding on excellent research or teaching projects, promising scholars, talented early career researchers, and regional and worldwide research networks.

This broad spectrum of funding options is often highly valued for the streamlined application processes, lack of red tape and freedom from outside influences during project implementation they often involve.

We will be happy to advise you on all matters relating to research funding through foundations:

  • Targeted research, information and guidance throughout the application process for funding both projects and individuals as well as for smaller funding needs
  • Guidance throughout the application process and support with international programmes: the Humboldt Foundation, the DAAD and the Heinrich Hertz-Stiftung foundation
  • Support with and coordination of the UA Ruhr funding programmes (MERCUR) for joint projects of the three UA Ruhr universities
  • Internal recruiting and coordination for academies and forums, chiefly the Junges Kolleg, Junge Akademie, Global Young Faculty
  • Organisation of nominations and applications for foundation prizes for all awards involving substantial funding as well as for various awards for early career researchers
