Apart from the Horizon Europe framework programme, Europe offers a wide range of additional funding opportunities for research, mobility and networking. Here is a selection of the most popular funding programmes.

Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe.

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) supports pan-European networking around defined topics over a period of four years.

Interreg VI Germany-Netherlands provides support exclusively for projects in which German and Dutch partners work together.

The Interreg B North-West Europe Programme supports transnational cooperation among partners from North-West Europe on topics relating to climate and the environment, the energy transition, the circular economy, innovation and resilience, and inclusive societies.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Just Transition Fund (JTF) support projects in areas including innovation, sustainability, SME assistance, quality of life, mobility and structural change in coal phase-out regions.
The main target groups are small and medium-sized businesses, universities and research institutions, and municipalities.

ERA-LEARN provides support in the form of general information and services on research and innovation partnership initiatives.
European partnerships are initiatives in which the European Commission, EU member states, industry and other stakeholders are involved. They commit to developing joint research and innovation programmes in focus areas with social significance.

Eureka is a European research initiative run by the governments of the countries involved. It offers businesses, universities and research organisations a framework for international, close-to-market research collaboration projects. Eureka is open to innovations in all areas. Projects may be submitted in any field of technology, from materials research to biotechnology through to information and communication technology.

The LIFE (L’Instrument Financier pour l’Environnement) programme is a funding instrument for activities relating to biodiversity, the environment and climate action. Public and private institutions from EU member states are eligible to participate in the LIFE programme. LIFE projects should contribute to the implementation, topicality and development of EU environmental and climate policies and the corresponding legislation.
